Ghost
This poem is about the feeling we have when we're aware we're moving on from a breakup, and it's painful but necessary at the same time.
Ghost

You once said "you'll forget"
I said "never"
in a defiant naiveté
not because I truly believed it (maybe I did)
but because I didn't want that to be true.
Now I'm holding on,
clawing at the fabric
remembering your laughter
but the tone is wrong
and it sounds far away.
It's happening
I'm holding someone else's face
stroking someone else's hair
your face flashes past
like a ghost, or a glitch
and then you're gone again.
