Overwhelmed

Drowning

in a sea of thoughts

no beginning nor end

one thought bleeding into another

all clamouring for attention

baby birds in a nest

I try to shut my mind

meditate

observe the thoughts

don't hang on to them

but I am being swept away

I need something to hold on to

When you leave your nest

people call you brave

but no one tells you

in those moments

when you look back

see the remnants of the nest

feel the panic in your chest

that you're still alone

Gave myself 5 mins to write something, unedited.
