NOMADS

In late May, Gio reached out to me to collaborate on a lyrical film for the Singapore Poetry Festival 2022, whose theme is Resurgence.

Very quickly, some calls were set up between me, Gio and Vinna, and through getting to know each other and each other's journeys, a theme emerged: the idea of journey and homecoming/homemaking.

NOMADS is a tale that amplifies the intersectionality of the Human Diaspora. How does a person’s soul shape a journey in life through time and space facing challenges and struggles with their environment? Inspired by magical realism, this film ventures to capture through music and movement the true nature of its cultural landscapes from multi-generational narratives.

Along the way, I had collaborators who helped me - Andrew who filmed and also let me use the recording booth we built; and Joanna who taught me some aerial hammock in return for me designing and sewing a giant wearable vagina costume (but that's another story). I'm so grateful for the people that making this film connected me with.
